A Mid-Century Bungalow kitchen was re-configured to position the chef toward the family and the living space of the home. Formerly the counters and cabinets ran the perimeter of the room, with the sink below the window. A peninsula was added to allow for sink placement facing the living space, as well as to provide a counter-height eating area for family and friends to participate in meal preparation and conversation with the chef. It also served as a great homework station. The existing fridge was moved to the opposite corner of the room at the end of the counter run; people could sneak in and grab a beverage without disturbing the chef. Vibrant colors, open shelves, and recessed lighting energized the space.
