Color was used to brighten and warm this Northeast Portland basement family room. The sofa was custom made in two pieces to fit down the narrow stairwell, and the deep brown color contrasts with the saturated hues in the pillows and the sky blue wall color. A pair of leather recliners were positioned for optimum television viewing. A custom round area rug and coffee table soften the many straight lines found in the room. The table lamp base was custom made of recycled metal and the shade was fashioned from vintage Chanel fabric.
