A fresh palette and large-scale tile reaching to the ceiling created a space evocative of Tofino on the west coast of Vancouver Island. Existing cabinets were re-worked to expose more counter space, and were painted the color of sea and sky.  New quartz counters replaced tile adding a sense of light and airiness to the room.  New hard wood flooring flows with existing floors in the rest of the home.
